Vd i agree but with another pass catching TE it would make watson even better, plus it would a backup for injuries.

I understand Ben's older but to me, until you've got somebody better...
    We'll see what FA does.
Being a Browns fan is a test to see how much you can take.
    Thanks Art. Thanks so much.

I would love Watson back for another year.
He's had his share of concussions the last couple years, but the guy is a damn good ball player.
And I bet he would come at a good price

I agree with you and Vette, Chef - but I can see the mindset of the new regime to be:

    Watson's history of concussions
When does he hit "the wall" given his current age

MKC was on the Bull and Fox show this afternoon - and she said that her sources indicated to her that none of the current Browns free agents will be brought back for 2013. Free agency starts (negotiating) at 12:01 am Saturday, so stay tuned.

    I've read that somewhere too

It's not a terrible thing, as long as they upgrade

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing about Watson, he's been a good TE, yes he's had some injuries in recent seasons, what player doesn't go through that? However, I believe he's coming off his best season with the Browns, if I'm not mistaken? So why in the world would they not want him for another season or two, at least until we acquire a more than serviceable replacement.

None of our FA's resigned, can't say that I'm surprised other than possibly Watson and Cribbs. If Cribbs goes, then you can reasonably expect a hit to our ST, he's still the best player on special teams, imo. At least in coverage, now it is possible we could find a better KR, maybe? After all, I think we found our PR in Benjamen.

the answer is simple he is not a mismatch at TE.

He is decent that is it. and he has struggled to stay on the field, and he is on the wrong side of 30.
the above post is usually just my opinion, and may or may not be shared by some members of the browns organization.

I like Watson also but the multiple concussions are a real concern. One more and he probably misses at least a quarter of a season. They probably aren't bringing anyone back.

Cribbs used to average 20 some st tackles. He had that over the past two years. He fumbled 4 times on kickoffs last year and lost 3. He's gone. Dawson's gone. I would like to keep him and see him retire a brown. Then again, I kinda wanna see him play for a winner to finish put his career. Maybe get some playoff Ws. McCoy probably will be traded during the draft. I'm just rambling now.

The Browns do throw to the TE a LITTLE more than the Titans do, but not by much.

I have heard numerous radio personalities say "Cook is not a great TE, look at his numbers" .... but those people are all blind, stupid or both, because they point to his lack of receptions as support for their claims, yet somehow fail to understand that to have receptions, your team must throw you the ball !!

Cook was only on the field for about HALF the snaps with the Titans offense the past few seasons, so how can you blame HIM for a lack of catches ??

Granted, Jared's disinterest in blocking was the main reason for his limited on the field presence, but the truth of the matter is that he is leaving Tennessee because the Titan's GM Ruston Webster is only going to offer a salary in accordance with how the team is going to USE him, as opposed to what he is TRULY worth to a team that will make full use of his talents....which is how his agent wants to see Cook paid.

Jared Cook would be no more productive or valuable in Cleveland than in Nashville, so I do not see him ending up with the Browns.
In the previous offensive system, they didn't throw to the TE much. But we have a NEW system coming in. Look at KW2 in 2007 under Chud's offense. Look at Antonio Gates in SD under Norv. They'll use the TE's if the TE's are any good.
