NBA Finals awaits Heat and Spurs:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

LeBron James and the Miami Heat are on their way back to the NBA Finals for the third consecutive year after defeating the Indiana Pacers in a 7-game series.

Let it sink in, and move on, fellow basketball fans.

There's just no denying how great LeBron James is, Cleveland was a "witness" to his style of play when he wore the wine and gold with Cleveland across the chest for 7 years and the franchise never accomplished as much success with James leading the charge.

The Miami Heat will be playing the San Antonio Spurs, the same Spurs who swept him back when he was a Cavalier six years ago - but it seems like a decade. This time around, James isn't expected to lose - and he for sure isn't expected to get swept by any means.

While the greatest player in the ...

Cavaliers' GM Chris Grant will have options with first-overall selection:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

Now that the celebration has slowed down for the Cavaliers and the fans of Cleveland, it's time to get down to business.

While the NBA draft isn't till June 27th, the Cavaliers will be busy deciding what exactly they will do with their 1st overall pick in this years draft, which includes them holding pick 19 in the first-round as well.

One likely scenario for the Cavs will be keeping the pick and electing to take the potential stud in Kentucky center Nerlens Noel. While there is no clear-cut number one pick in this years draft class, Noel seems to be the guy with the most upside, despite a torn ACL during his freshmen year this season for the Wildcats.

Noel is listed at 6'10 and 206 pounds. While his size isn't perfect for the center position, ...

Nick Gilbert helps Cavaliers beat odds once again in NBA draft lottery:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Things didn't go to well for Nick Gilbert and the Cavaliers last year at the draft lottery, they landed the No.4 pick overall instead of a top 3 pick or the ultimate goal of No.1. But this time around, it was different.

The Cavaliers held a 15.6 percent chance at the No.1 overall pick, the Orlando Magic held a 25 percent at the No.1 pick, so once the Magic's card was pulled second overall, the Cavs' crowd at the draft lottery - namely hip-hop artist Machine Gun Kelly and Dan Gilbert, rejoiced with cheers. The Cavaliers had won their second NBA draft lottery in three years.

"There's a lot of great players up top, but there's no clear No. 1," Gilbert said. "For us to have the choice ...

Cavaliers, Mike Brown, agree to five-year deal to reunite:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Today the Cleveland Cavaliers announced the hiring of former head coach Mike Brown, to a five-year contract worth more than $20 million over the deal.

Brown, who coached the Cavaliers from 05-10', led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007. Brown also owns the Cavaliers' franchise record for most wins in a season, along with the best winning percentage in Cavalier history at .663. Brown is also ranked 6th all-time among head coaches in winning percentage at .652(314-167 overall).

Stats aside, the Cavaliers turned some heads when they agreed to bring back Brown to coach this struggling Cavs team. Just 3 years after Cavs owner Dan Gilbert fired Mike Brown after the wine and gold failed to make the NBA finals the past two seasons under Brown, Gilbert admits it was a mistake to begin with.

Lakers clinch playoff birth, then coin flip to get 19th overall pick in the draft for Cavaliers

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

Today the NBA announced the tiebreakers for the teams that were tied record wise for draft positioning.

It played a role for the Cleveland Cavaliers due to their right to swap this years Miami Heat's first round draft choice(30th), for the Lakers pick - which is now 19th overall after the coin flip decided it's fate.

The Lakers and Cavs agreed to terms on trade that sent Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga to the Lakers in exchange for Luke Walton and a lottery-protected 2012 first-round pick last year before the NBA trading deadline. The Cavs also acquired the right to swap the Laker's 1st round pick this year in the draft with the Miami ...

Sources: Cavs, Brown, have mutual interest

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 Staff

The Cleveland Cavaliers could be welcoming back a former face to the sidelines as head coach, that former face being the one of Mike Brown.

Brown, who coached the Cavaliers from 2005-10', posted a record of 272 wins and 138 losses. His .663 winning percentage ranks the best in Cavalier history - Brown also coached the Cavaliers to their first ever NBA Finals trip in 2007. Brown won the NBA's Coach of The Year award back in 2009 when he led the team to a franchise best 66-16 record. Brown was let go by the Cavaliers following their playoff upset against the Boston Celtics in 2009-2010, which fueled Brown's dismissal.

Now there's an opportunity for Brown to comeback to the Cavaliers, according to reports. Brown recently coached the Los Angeles Lakers ...

After 3 straight losing seasons, the Cleveland Cavaliers decide to release head coach Bryon Scott:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Its been a rough three seasons for the Cavaliers, especially Byron Scott who was handed a team who just lost their superstar and were in desperate need of a change.

Today, Cavaliers GM Chris Grant believed the necessary changes they were searching for when they hired coach Scott didn't occur - thus announced that they have terminated his tenure as Cleveland Cavaliers head coach one year after they elected to pick up his option on his contract. Scott had one more year remaining on his deal at roughly $4 million.

"I want to thank (general manager) Chris Grant, (owner) Dan Gilbert and the Cavaliers organization for the opportunity I had to coach this team the last three seasons," Head coach Bryon Scott stated about his release. ...

Losing records, lack of effort puts Cavaliers' Byron Scott on the hot seat:

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 staff

It hasn't been easy being a Cleveland Cavaliers fan since the infamous "Decision" back in 2010, but for head coach Byron Scott - it might have been worse.

The Cavaliers have yet to produce a winning record since 2010, and since hiring Scott to replace former NBA Coach of the Year in 2009 in Mike Brown. Brown helped lead the Cavaliers to back-to-back league best records in 2009 and 2010, setting the franchise record for 66 wins in 2009. The Cavs made the NBA finals once under Brown, the first time in franchise history - back in 2007 after defeating the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference finals.

To keep it blunt, Byron Scott had some sizable shoes to fill in some fans eyes after the glory years of leading ...

Nets 113, Cavaliers 95: Lack of effort shows in latest loss

    Written by Bob Finnan, News-Herald.com

It was a classic case of one team having a lot to play for.

The other was just playing out the string.

The playoff-bound Brooklyn Nets obliterated the Cavaliers on Wednesday, 113-95, before 14,863 at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Cavs (22-52), who lost their 10th game in a row, insist they have not quit on their coach.

“Have I checked out?” Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving asked. “No. I’m out there playing with a sprained AC joint (in my shoulder). That thought never crossed my mind.”

Coach Byron Scott is desperately trying to hang onto his job.

He was asked if he’s worried about his job security after the Cavs lost their 14th game in their last 16 outings.

“Not really,” Scott said. “Whatever happens, happens.”

What happened in the first half was perhaps their worst two quarters of the season. The Nets (43-31), holding onto the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race, bullied ...
