Cavaliers will have multiple trade options in the next coming week

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 Staff

The Cavaliers have always been a team to watch for during the NBA trading deadline. During the years when LeBron James was a member of the team, the Cavs usually had their names mentioned in every player that was on the block that could fit their system, and next to James in hopes of getting that final push to win a championship. However, they never could find the "right" deal to make that final push, but now it's deadline time again, but the situation is a little different this time around.

According to sources, the Cavaliers will be fielding calls during the all-star break for backup point guard Ramon Sessions, and Antawn Jamison. Sessions has been courted by the Los Angeles Lakers for a big portion of the season, and it's likely the two sides will discuss a deal ...

Cavs Overcome 17-point Deficit, Take Second Straight

    Written by Joe Gabriele, Cavs.com

Antawn Jamison set ‘em up. Kyrie Irving knocked ‘em down.

For the first three quarters in Cleveland, Jamison was the squad’s lone bright spot – notching 29 points and carrying the Cavs on his shoulders into the fourth period. At that point – with the Wine and Gold trailing by 11 – this June’s top pick took over.

Irving, who iced Sunday’s win over Sacramento with a pair of clutch free throws, netted 17 of his 25 points in the final quarter – willing the Cavaliers to the 101-100 win on Tuesday night at The Q.

Jamison went on to lead both clubs with 32 points on 11-for-22 shooting, adding 10 boards and a pair of assists.

“I have to give a lot of props to Antawn Jamison who I really thought, for the first three quarters, kept us in the game,” praised Coach Scott. “I thought he was really the only ...

Cavaliers 93, Kings 92: Cavs win on Kyrie Irving's free throws

    Written by Bob Finnan, News-Herald.com

Kyrie Irving said it’s just basketball.

The Cavaliers point guard said he didn’t feel nervous about going to the foul line with his team losing, 92-91, with 0.4 seconds left on the clock.

“I envisioned myself in my backyard,” Irving said.

The Rookie of the Year candidate drained both free throws for a 93-92 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday before 16,812 at Quicken Loans Arena.

“It was a routine situation,” Irving said. “I was prepared for it.”

The Cavs (12-17) took the ball out at halfcourt with 2.9 seconds left. Irving inbounded to guard Ramon Sessions, who passed the ball back to the rookie guard.

He drove into the lane, but Kings guard Tyreke Evans was whistled for a reach-in foul by official Bennie Adams. Kings coach Keith Smart, a former Cavs interim coach in 2003, was incensed by the call.

“I can’t answer that,” Smart said. “My wife ...

Wine and Gold Go Wire-to-Wire Over Indy at The Q

    Written by Joe Gabriele, Cavs.com

Six weeks ago in Indiana, sensational rookie Kyrie Irving missed a game-winning layup and the Cavs couldn’t close out the Pacers. In his return to the lineup on Wednesday night, Irving made sure it wouldn’t come to that.

After missing the previous three games with a concussion, this June’s top overall pick netted 12 of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter and the Wine and Gold coasted to the 98-87 win over the struggling Pacers at The Q.

In his first game back, Irving went 8-of-12 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from long-distance, adding five assists, three boards and just a single turnover in 37 minutes of play.

“I’m 100 percent,” asserted Irving. “It doesn’t mean that because I had a prior concussion that my game is going to change in any way. I had the same aggressiveness.”

Fractured right wrist puts Andy on sidelines for Cavs

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cavaliers haven't had the best of luck lately, with losing Anthony Parker, and then Kyrie Irving - things just haven't gone their way in the past few weeks and, unfortunately, the news keeps getting worse.

The Cavaliers announced today that starting center Anderson Varejao has a fractured right wrist, and will likely be out for 6-8 weeks, according to sources. Varejao, who has averaged season highs in points(10.8 ), and rebounds(11.5), was injured last night against the Milwaukee Bucks in the third quarter after former Cavalier Drew Gooden took a shot at Varejao's wrist.

Finding a replacement for the Cavs via trades or free agency will likely be ...

Cavaliers 99, Clippers 92: Cavs stand up

    Written by Bob Finnan, News-Herald.com

Anderson Varejao is a valuable commodity around these parts.

When the Cavaliers' center was knocked to the floor with 9 minutes, 32 seconds left in the third quarter by Clippers forward Blake Griffin, his teammates didn't take too kindly to the move.

Minutes later, Griffin found himself lying on the deck while going for a rebound, courtesy of Cavs forward/center Samardo Samuels. It's how you stand up for a teammate.

The Cavs (10-14) recorded their second consecutive upset victory at Quicken Loans Arena, 99-92, over the Clippers.

The Cavs were playing without three key performers, most notably leading scorer Kyrie Irving, who has a concussion. Coach Byron Scott has been dealing with a depleted backcourt for the last week. Scott paired Ramon Sessions and Daniel Gibson in his starting backcourt, and it worked like a charm.

Sessions responded with 24 points and a game-high 13 assists, both season highs.

Gibson, who missed the previous five ...

    Cool-Shooting Fourth Quarter Seals Loss

    Written by Joe Gabriele, Cavs.com

Unlike some fourth-quarter comebacks from the past couple weeks, on Tuesday night in Miami the short-handed Cavaliers were within striking distance for three quarters but cooled off down the stretch and fell to the Heat, 107-91.

The Wine and Gold were without the services of Anthony Parker, Tristan Thompson and Daniel Gibson. Mychel Thompson, who started the previous three games for Cleveland at the 2-guard, was released on Monday.

Still, the Cavaliers were within a half-dozen, 78-72, heading into the fourth quarter – facing their second 2011 Finals team in as many days.

But the final period proved to be the Cavaliers’ undoing, as they shot just 26 percent from the floor. Cleveland’s bench, which came into the game as one of the league’s best, combined for just 4-for-23 shooting.

    Antawn Jamison ...

Cavs 24/7's Russell Williams gives his take on the LeBron James interested in returning to Cleveland rumors

Written by Russell Williams, Cavs 24/7 Staff

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The rumors and chatter around the league a week ago was about a LeBron James return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the year 2014. Fellow Cleveland sports writer Sam Amico, whom is a good journalist with credible sources to boot, reported from "unnamed sources" that James isn't pleased with the way the Miami Heat run their organization, especially the way Pat Riley does things. But, Amico's thought process goes deeper than that.

Straight from Amico's story posted 9 days ago: You can read the rest of the article here

While that seems to be the most important nugget in the article posted, however my favorite part is how James seemingly doesn't "enjoy" the way the Heat run their organization. As pointed out in the article, James ...

Kyrie's Layup, Wild Thing's Hustle Key Cavs Comeback

    Written by Joe Gabriele, Cavs.com

Sunday night’s rollercoaster win is just one more reason why it’s hard to believe that Kyrie Irving’s career is just 19 games old.

Cleveland’s young star cut through Boston’s defense and capped a wild rally – not to mention biggest win of the Cavaliers season and Irving’s burgeoning career – sinking a twisting, left-handed layup with 2.6 seconds to go, giving the Cavaliers the thrilling 88-87 win.

Brandon Bass’ second free throw with 4:25 remaining gave Boston an 11-point edge, 87-76. That marked the beginning of the Kyrie Irving-Anderson Varejao Show and ended Boston’s scoring for the night.

Irving canned a jumper and a pair of free throws and Varejao scored on tough back-to-back baskets – sandwiched by a pair of man-sized offensive rebounds – and the Cavs found themselves down by three, 87-84, with just over a minute ...
