    Bradley Zimmer gets his chance

The Indians have brought of top prospect Bradley Zimmer.
Abraham Almonte goes to the 10 day DL.

I wouldnt expect him to return.

I am hopeful as well that Zimmer stays here.

The knock against him in spring training was he had a long swing - which generates a shit ton of power, but at the ML level will lead to Ks. But that's what we have hitting coaches for.

    A positive move though

Not like Abe's been tearing the cover off the ball either.

Maybe he'll come up and provide a spark like Naquin did last year.

Now, I know the Adam the Bull on the Fan can be overly opinionated - that is what radio DJs get paid for. But I really must disagree with him when he seriously questions Tito's selection of other outfielders ahead of Brad when facing a left handed starter. Especially when the lefty is one that, to be kind, is less than a franchise cornerstone.

What I have seen so far from Bradley is very very encouraging. He has thunder in his bat, has better than average speed - which he uses very well on the bases and out in centerfield, and he has good field awareness. Why limit him to only playing against righties? Bottom line, if he continues to develop at this pace, hie is our everyfay CF of the next few years.

Now I can defend Tito's moves with these arguments:

    • Brad is still painfully young, and adjusting physically and mentally to the length of a pro season. Sure, he is all gung ho and will do anything asked of him - but Tito must be very careful not to allow him to come in to work one day, having hit the proverbial "rookie wall" and be out of gas for the rest of the season, Just when you needed him most.
    • Daniel Robertson has filled in well. A journeyman player at best, he had a great moment Friday night. Caught a fly ball, and fired a seed to second to nail a Twins runner trying to get greedy. By allowing Robertson to play, Tito is managing the entire team not just one player.
    • All things are positive now, but what if Brad goes into a prolonged slump. The damage that could do to the physce of a player could be devastating. By spacing out his appearances, Tito is trying to build up a resistance to those.

Kid's a tremendous ballplayer. But let's bring him along at a controlled rate.

He will get his ABs against leftys, but right now, hes being put in the best situations to succeed.
You want to bring him long with a pace he can handle. Its a long season.
Oh...who leads the Tribe in RBI now???

That's why I was disagreeing with Adam and agreeing with you.

Your answer? A converted third baseman.

Yep, Lonnine, who has played in just 43 games.
